IDT GSA Meeting, Sept. 29th, 2012, 9:30am-11:30am (please RSVP)

To IDT faculty, students, and alumni,

The IDT GSA is hosting a potluck meeting on Saturday, Sept 29, from 9:30am-11:30am in Ball Hall 320.  The meeting will include a discussion panel consisting of recent IDT graduates (doctorate and masters), and a few current students who are working in the IDT field.  The panel includes people working in the private sector, and in K-12 schools.

The panel will discuss job hunting, IDT skills you should be developing, and everything else related it IDT.

Advising Meeting (Mandatory), August 25th 2012, 9:30am-11:30am

To all IDT students:
I hope this message finds you well, and that you have had a great summer so far!  We are quickly closing in on the Fall Semester, and the IDT department will be hosting a mandatory meeting for all IDT students.  This meeting will include an advising session with your advisor, and will also include relevant information about upcoming IDT events.  We encourage you to attend in person, but if you need to connect remotely, we will be using Adobe Connect. Child care will be provided. Here are more details about the event:

To all who are planning to attend the 2012 AECT conference:

We created a Google Form that we would like you to complete.  We plan to use the information for two reasons:
1. We want to start coordinating rides and rooms for the AECT conference.
2. We are creating some literature that highlights everything that the University of Memphis is doing at the conference.

IDT GSA Approved for the Next Academic Year!

The Instructional Design and Technology Graduate Student Association received approval from the Student Government Association, and our profile can be seen here.  We are official for 2012-2013!  Our group is open to EVERYBODY (current students, alumni, faculty, and everyone in-between). Membership is free, and you can participate as much or as little as you like.

If you are interested in helping with our organization, please let me know by email at jpswney1@memphis.edu.

Some ways you can help:

1) Attend meetings (usually once a month, but are not mandatory). We will have potlucks, professional development, various get-togethers, etc.
2) Let me know you are interested in presenting any form of professional development
3) Provide ideas for future events
4) Offer ideas on how to connect members who live far from campus

“Just a quick reminder that Project Showcase for IDT 7095/8095 students is on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 6:00 pm in Room 320 of Ball Hall on the University of Memphis campus.  And that’s just 1 week away!!! If you are a current IDT student, I highly recommend attending the showcase so you can see the quality of work required and the type of presentations that are given (in addition to tasting the great food we offer).”
