Important Graduation Forms:
Failure to submit BOTH the graduation application and the degree and/or certificate candidacy form will delay your graduation until the next semester. A late fee of $500 will be assessed.
FILING ELIGIBILITY RULES:
- You must have a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.00 or better.
- You must be fully admitted to a graduate degree and/or graduate certificate program before filing your graduation application.
- Non-Degree Students are NOT eligible to file for graduation.
We strongly recommend that you submit the candidacy form to your departmental advisor no later than Friday, January 20, 2016so that the form will reach your respective College Director of Graduate Studies by the required deadlines. Any received after the deadline will NOT be approved or forwarded to the Graduate School for processing.
- Students completing a Graduate Certificate program must be officially admitted to the program in order to both apply to graduate and to officially receive the certificate. Students will be certified for graduation only when all degree requirements are met, including the removal of all “I” or “IP” grades earned from previous semesters and the successful completion of comprehensive examination requirements or final approval of master’s theses or doctoral dissertations.
If degree candidates earn any “I” or “IP” grades during their last semester of enrollment, they will automatically be disqualified from graduation and will be notified of this disqualification via U of M email only.

To access the application, click on the MyDegree tab to locate the Commencement and Graduation channel. Follow the prescribed steps listed below:
- Carefully review Step 1 – Prerequisites to Graduate.
- Click on Step 2 – Apply to Graduate to complete application.
- Once Step 2 has been completed, proceed to Step 3 – Diploma Mailing/Cap and Gown form. All students are required to complete both the Diploma Mailing and Cap and Gown form, even if there are no plans to attend graduation exercises. For students completing only a graduate certificate program, there will be no access to the Cap and Gown portion as these students are not allowed to participate in graduation.
- During the middle of every semester, the Commencement Office will provide graduating students access to Step 4 – Attendance Card.
- After the application has been completed, click View Application to Graduate.
- Proceed to Step 3 only if you need to make changes to your name or to the diploma mailing address. Do not go back to Step 2.

Good afternoon Dr. Martindale,
I am reaching out to you in the event you know any recent Instructional Design graduates who may be interested in contract positions at one of the Nike Distribution Centers here in Memphis.
It is a contract ID position, probably starting with a 3 to 6-month contract with a possibility of an extension up to a year. We design and develop skill-based learning solutions for Nike’s North America Logistics Campus in Frayser. Most of our work currently is revisions to instructor-led training, but as we revise, we are looking for more impactful ways to incorporate hands-on training, and hopefully, we will begin eLearning work in earnest very soon.
I have spots on my team for two contract IDs who may have less experience, but are eager to learn and possess strong writing skills and positive attitude. Some of the primary qualifications are:
- Hands on content and course curriculum development
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Expert level command of common authoring tools and course development methodologies. (Microsoft PowerPoint, Word experience preferred)
- Deep working knowledge and application of adult learning theory and teaching techniques.
- Familiarity with a wide array of training concepts, practices and procedures.
- Ability to communicate and execute clear, consistent and applicable learning experiences aligned to organizational goals. Excellent project management skills are a must.

Position Title : Instructional Accessibility Technician
The Accessible Instructional Materials Specialist coordinates with UofM Global programs to evaluate course materials in compliance with UofM Global accessibility requirements. This work will be performed under the direction of Distance Learning with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
●Performing course content development, consultative services, and technical assistance work related to accessibility.
●Working with UofM Global department faculty and staff to ensure that course content meets UofM Global Accessibility standards, including all WCAG 2.0 Level AA requirements applicable to online instructional materials.
●Working with UofM Global departments and programs to develop accessible templates and tools for web production.
●Facilitating the use of 3rd party captioning services for media published within UofM Global program courses.
●Identifying and implement tools for monitoring course accessibility.
●Assisting with the establishment of course content accessibility standards to be used university-wide.
Although web accessibility expertise is not essential, experience in a related area, such as software design, human factors, usability or disability is expected. The following skills and experience would be ideal:
