STEM Project – Focus group

From Lindsey Shepard:

A team from the Learning Systems department at CTI is currently working on a whitepaper for a product that will reverse the steady decline in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) graduates in the United States. Our approach to a possible solution is a mobile-based application—possibly a game—that raises awareness, curiosity, and enthusiasm for STEM careers.

We are forming a focus group of students ranging from 6th – 12th grade. The purpose of this group is to gauge students’ attitudes and perceptions on why they are (or aren’t) interested in STEM-related careers and to understand what type of mobile games and apps they prefer. We are especially interested in female students and minorities, as these groups are currently very underrepresented in the STEM workforce. We are seeking a diverse group of students with a special emphasis on these demographics. If you have contacts that fit this description who may be willing to participate in a brief meeting and follow-up phone calls or Skype meetings, please send me their contact information. We are looking to pull this group together the week of July 22nd.

I appreciate your help!
Lindsey
